The Victoria Island Muslim Community Masjid, located at Archbishop Taylor Memorial School, opposite Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, urgently requires financial assistance to carry out a flooring renovation project.
The existing masjid flooring serves both as the prayer area and the primary access route for worshippers. It was designed to collect rainwater and channel it into an underground flood pit. However, the flood pit's capacity, together with the natural rate at which the collected water percolates into the surrounding soil, is insufficient to accommodate the volume of stormwater generated during heavy rainfall. As a result, the flood pit has collapsed, leading to persistent flooding whenever it rains.
This project aims to repair the collapsed section and re-engineer the flooring slope to divert stormwater to a safer alternative discharge point. This will provide a permanent solution to the recurring annual flooding, ensuring a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable environment for worshippers.
